This 1960 AC Ace-Bristol Roadster is one of just 463 produced. Green with original red leather interior. It is missing its engine, gearbox, and rear-end. A rare and extremely desirable find just out of 40 year ownership and storage. Chassis BEX1164 is a highly original example that retains its matching trunk and hood stampings. It has a nice and straight original body and solid tubular frame. AC revealed the Ace at the London Motor Show in October 1953, based on a sports racing platform with a lightweight design that used a ladder-type tubular frame and alloy body which was advanced for its time. Starting in 1956, the company introduced the option of an uprated Bristol engine, closely related to the pre-war six-cylinder BMW 328 sports car engine. The Ace-Bristol became extremely popular with SCCA competitors, dominating the E-Production class for a short time. The Ace Bristol remains a favorite today with enthusiasts of important competition roadsters.
This particular example represents a wonderful opportunity for any AC marque enthusiast or fan of period English sports cars. Although the drivetrain is missing, it would certainly make for an exciting and worthwhile project.- Rare and Original Classic AC-Ace "Bristol" Project
